Mabina Ahmed - Assistant Headteacher
I am thrilled to have joined Deptford Green School as an Assistant Headteacher for raising standards. I grew up in Southeast London and have always worked in Lewisham schools teaching Physics.
Deptford Green is a school rooted in community and has a proud legacy of support in the families that make us their first choice.
I found my way into teaching after a university project building kit cars with Year 10 students. We had success but also lots of pit-stops to rebuild and start over; it was wonderful seeing the students grow through it all. I knew I'd found my dream job and I want our students to build the future they aspire to.
I enjoy pursuing creative pursuits such as poetry, find peace in yoga, am inspired by travel, and have just completed an MSc. People are this wonderful mix of hobbies and academia; I appreciate this as a teacher. This means I understand the value of languages, of those who perform art and those who paint it, the competitors on the racetrack, and those with their noses in textbooks dreaming up literary journeys or voyaging to the moon. This is what I want for our students; a place they can call home, a place they can grow in every way and dream big.
