Pastoral Care
Pastoral Team
At Deptford Green School we provide outstanding pastoral care. We pride ourselves on being a fully inclusive, diverse school with creativity and community at its heart. Our GREAT values (Growth; Respect; Equality; Accountability; Togetherness) underpin all that we do to ensure our students are happy and feel safe so they can flourish academically.
We have a very big and extremely experienced pastoral team. Our priority is always ensuring our students feel safe, happy and supported, because it is the essential foundation upon which learning can take place.
Form Tutor
Each student has a Form Tutor who is responsible for their day-to-day immediate pastoral care; all members of staff know their students well, they build extremely positive relationships with them, they deal with pastoral care issues and take immediate action to support their students. A strong sense of trust and togetherness is developed between the form tutor and the tutor group so that students feel able to express concerns when they arise.
Pastoral Leader
Each year group has a Pastoral Leader who has no teaching commitments. They are fully committed to providing outstanding pastoral care to all students in their year group. The Pastoral Leader focuses on attendance, punctuality, organisation, safeguarding and student well-being; they ensure any barriers which prevent students from focusing on their learning are addressed in a timely fashion.
Head of Year
Attached to every year group is also a Head of Year who is responsible for both the pastoral and academic progress and achievement of all students in their year group. After every academic data capture the Head of Year analyses and interprets the data. The Head of Year then takes action to celebrate students' successes. They also respond to students/groups of students who are not making expected progress by putting support and interventions in place to address underperformance.
