Get Into The Green
At Deptford Green, we believe that great effort deserves great recognition. That’s why we launched Get Into the Green (GITG)—a termly, whole-school rewards initiative designed to celebrate students who consistently demonstrate commitment, positivity and pride in their learning and conduct.
What is GITG?
GITG is more than just a rewards system—it’s a school-wide movement that encourages healthy competition, recognises student excellence and promotes our shared values. Each term, students are invited to “Get Into the Green” by meeting key expectations around behaviour, attendance, effort and punctuality.
Those who meet the criteria are recognised and rewarded, culminating in a BIG end-of-term rewards trip!
Why We Do It
We want to foster a culture where students feel proud of their achievements and motivated to push themselves further. GITG helps students see that consistency, effort and responsibility open doors—not just academically, but socially and personally too. It’s our way of building a strong community rooted in positive routines and aspirations.
How It Works
To be considered "in the green", students must meet the following termly criteria:
- Attendance: Above 96% (the higher, the better!)
- Punctuality: Fewer than four instances of lateness to school or lessons
- Effort: Strong engagement and conduct in lessons, supported by our internal tracking system
- Positive Points: Weekly LORIC or GREAT point targets met (linked to key learning behaviours)
- Behaviour: No more than two referrals to the Reflection Room (RR)
Each term, the data is refreshed so every student has a fresh opportunity to earn their place in the green zone.
The Rewards
GITG isn’t just about data—it’s about celebration. Students who are "in the green" enjoy:
- Weekly recognition and shout-outs in assemblies
- Certificates of Achievement given out half-termly
- End-of-term trip to exciting venues—past trips have included private cinema hire with free food, Winter Wonderland, free meal at Nandos, Toca Social and arcades and games session at FlipOut Canary Wharf and Bubble Planet.
We aim to make these trips memorable and meaningful. They reward not only good behaviour but also model the kind of fun and engaging culture we want every Deptford Green student to be a part of.
