Gut Girls Project
The Year 9's continued the 'Gut Girls' project with Capture Projects on 21st June 2023.
The project is an exploration of local history, focusing on the young women who came to Deptford in the late 19th Century to work in the waterfront slaughterhouses.
The women were somewhat famous for their riotous behaviour before the philanthropist Duchess of Albany created a school for the women to prepare them for domestic service.
In today's session, the students made zines detailing the lives of the young women and will continue to produce other creative responses in the coming weeks which will be exhibited during the Deptford X Festival in September. Well done all!
