ANOTHER EXCITING TRIP COMING UP IN MARCH!
Dear Parent/Carer,
French Immersion School Trip to La Grande Ferme Residential Centre in Normandy, France
The Languages Department is delighted to be able to offer students the opportunity to take part in a residential trip to La Grande Ferme, a residential school centre in Normandy, France on 13/03/2025-17/03/2025 (4 nights). This trip is open to all Y8/9/10 pupils currently studying French and who are also interested in History, Art or Textiles.
The trip will provide an exclusive opportunity for students to discover how their studies can be used in real life contexts and to appreciate the differences in foreign culture first-hand. The trip will be led by a native French animateur, who will get students speaking French at every opportunity in a fun, supportive and interactive way. The programme is built around day trips and excursions to local attractions in Normandy including:
- The Christian Dior museum
- The beautiful fort town of Mont Saint-Michel
- The historic town of Bayeux
- A guided tour of the Bayeux Tapestry
- Go-Ape high-ropes climbing
- French bakery
- A French market experience to practise French
- Historic WWII cemetery visit
- On-site activities at the centre including: climbing, swimming and pool games, archery, volleyball, pétanque, football, aeroball, circus skills and snail tasting!
The programme encourages students to listen and practise their French from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave in a supportive environment that helps students become more confident, and most importantly, have fun!
We will be staying at La Grande Ferme in Normandy, 120 minutes south of Cherbourg. Students stay in gender-specific en-suite bunk rooms in gîte accommodation blocks situated in the centre’s 3 acres of private grounds.
La Grande Ferme is a long-established French language centre and has been welcoming UK school groups for over 25 years. The French language school centre has a dedicated team of operational staff and French-native animateurs, all of which are carefully vetted and qualified to instruct activities professionally and safely.
The cost of the trip will be £529 or £329 if your child is Pupil Premium (based on a maximum group of 40 students). This price includes: all 3 meals a day once we have arrived at the centre, accommodation, all trips and activities cost and travel insurance. The price does not include personal expenditure, food and drink while travelling (coach/ferry) and drinks (except water) with meals.
If you wish your child to join that fantastic trip, lease pay a deposit of £200 on ParentPay by 07/10/2024.
Please be aware that by paying the deposit for the trip, you are entering into an agreement to pay the full amount of the trip cost. Once the school has submitted the deposit to the travel company, refunds will only be possible if we are able to find a suitable replacement for your child’s spot. While we will make every effort to assist in finding a replacement, this is not guaranteed, and until one is secured, the full payment will still be required. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
